The Health Sciences Academic Building Work Commons is available to all faculty and staff and is designed to support both independent work and collaboration. The space works well for hybrid work, online meetings, and informal collaboration.

Space Features
- Flexible workspace design with seating for up to 61 people
- No shared technology is provided in the central commons area
- Headsets or earbuds are strongly encouraged for virtual meetings
Collaborative Spaces
The two collaborative spaces within the Work Commons are intended for larger group meetings and collaborative work. Access to these small spaces is through the main Work Commons door of 2520 with use of an Iowa One Card.
Reservations
- Rooms must be reserved through Outlook or at the conference room door for a “walk up meeting.”
- Reservations are limited to two‑hour time slots.
- When scheduling, provide a 15-minute pass time between events
- Please cancel your reservation if you no longer need the space so others may use it.

Room Use Expectations
Room Use Expectations
- University conference spaces are self‑service.
- Conference spaces and collaborative spaces may be used only for non-instructional activities. Course-related activities should be scheduled in a University Classroom (UCR) or a designated departmental space.
- Student events are not permitted in UCS spaces. This includes student organizations, programs, meetings or any other student-led activities. Faculty or staff may not reserve a UCS space on behalf of a student or student organization.
- Reserve only the space and time needed in two-hour intervals.
- The rooms are available during standard building hours.
- These rooms are accessed with your IowaOne card. Be sure to bring your ID with you to your reservation.
- Include any setup and cleanup time in your reservation.
- Users are responsible for tidying the space at the end of their meeting.
- Return furniture to its original configuration.
- Dispose of trash and recycling appropriately.
- Clean surfaces as needed.
- Cleaning supplies are available in the conference room.
- Cancel reservations as soon as they are no longer needed
